Ain't Misbehavin'
Written By: Fats Waller, Harry Brooks and Andy Razaf (lyrics) in 1929.
Information:
Waller wrote it in 45 minutes and sold it with 18 other songs for just $500 because he needed the money.
This song was introduced by Margaret Simms, Paul Bass and Russell Wooding's Hallelujah Singers in the Stage Musical "Hot Chocolates" , an all-Negro revue. Shortly after the opening, Louis Armstrong joined the company and played the song on solo trumpet during the intermission.
Fats Waller performed this song in the 1943 Hollywood Musical "Stormy Weather".
It was also featured in the 1955 Musical "Gentlemen Marry Brunettes" and, again in 1955, as the title song in the Musical "Ain't Misbehavin' ". Ain't Misbehavin' opened as a limited-run cabaret act at the Manhattan Theatre Club on February 8, 1978, but was so well received that it soon moved to the Longacre Theatre on Broadway. The show featured the music of Fats Waller and reproduced the atmosphere of a Harlem nightclub in the 1930s. It ran for 1,604 performances and enjoyed a brief revival in 1988.

Lyrics
No one to walk
with, all by myself,
No one to talk with, but I'm happy on the shelf.
Ain't Misbehavin', I'm savin' my love for you
I know for certain the one I love
I'm thru with flirtin', it's just you I'm thinkin' of,
Ain't Mis-be-hav-in', I'm savin' my love for you
I'm Like Jack Horner in the corner,
I don't go nowhere, what do I care,
Your kisses are worth waitin' for, believe me
I don't stay out late, no place to go
I'm home a-bout eight, just me and my radio
Ain't Mis-be-hav-in', savin' all of my love for you
No one to walk with, all by myself,
No one to talk with, but I'm happy on the shelf.
Ain't Misbehavin', I'm savin' my love for you
I know for certain the one I love
I'm thru with flirtin', it's just you I'm thinkin' of,
Ain't Mis-be-hav-in', I'm savin' my love for you
I'm like Jack Horner in the corner,
I don't go nowhere, what do I care,
Your kisses are worth waitin' for, believe me
I don't stay out late, that's not for me
I'm home about eight, just quit looking at my tv
Ain't Mis-be-hav-in', savin' all of my love for you
