• Another side that provided James Carr with chart success. 'Let It Happen' peaked at #30, staying in the R&B chart for four weeks, and making the #106 slot in the Pop chart. Following on the success of 'The Dark End Of The Street', it was natural (and customary practice) to return to the composing well that had previously delivered the goods, and fans of Dan Penn were not dissappointed. Quiet mannered and evenly paced, James Carr was again at the very height of his powers, and the song, replete with girl chorus and a prominent piano accompinament, was quite obviously and quite rightly tailor-made for Carr's distinctive style.        (by Dave Godin in the Complete Goldwax CD booklet)
